1870 – 1934

George Smith came from mid Calder and studied at George Watson’s College in Edinburgh and then in the RSA Schools and in Antwerp.  He was particularly adept at painting animals often in a farmyard or domesticated scene.  He was elected a full RSA Academician in 1921.
